I freelanced for a client that filed for bankruptcy. Is my money owed considered 'wages and salaries'?

I was a contractor/freelancer for an LLC that recently filed for bankruptcy. The company owes me more than $3,500 for services rendered prior to its bankruptcy filing. Since I was a freelancer, is my claim considered "wages or salaries" - and therefore Entitled to Priority in the bankruptcy court? Or do "wages and salaries" apply only to employees of the company (not contractors)? Thanks.
